FG declares Thursday, May 1 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day.

This was disclosed in a statement released by Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on Tuesday in Abuja.

In the statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the minister commended Nigerian workers for their diligence and sacrifice, recognising their efforts as contributors to the country’s internal and external growth.

The FG also praised the dedication and sacrifices of workers, acknowledging their role in the nation’s progress and the respect Nigeria enjoys internationally.

“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building”, the minister said

Tunji-Ojo went on to  encourage workers to elevate their standards to improve governance and ensure equitable distribution of the nation’s resources.

He reassured Nigerians of FG’s  commitment to their safety and the security of all individuals in the country.

Wishing all workers a joyful celebration, the minister urged the public to remain hopeful, saying that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working towards fulfilling its Renewed Hope Agenda.
