Manchester United legends Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville have tipped North London club Arsenal to retain the English Premier League (EPL) title they won last season.
The former Red Devils defenders backed the Gunners to lift the trophy while reacting to Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat of Fulham in a league fixture on Monday night.
Ferdinand, speaking on his YouTube channel, noted that Arsenal played like champions against Coventry City last Friday during their commanding 3-0 victory over the Championship winners.
He went on to say Mikel Arteta’s men are hard to beat and that they play like champions.
He said: “It was what I expected from Arsenal.
“Solid, hard to play against, shut down the opposition and then fed on some mistakes and punished them. They played like champions.”

On his part, Neville, while analysing Chelsea’s victory over Fulham on Monday Night Football, asserted that Arsenal will 100 per cent win the Premier League title this season.
He further praised the EPL champions’ signings of Bruno Guimarães, Christos Tzolis and Ezri Konsa this summer.
Speaking on who will lift the league trophy this term, he said: “One hundred per cent Arsenal.
“They’re way out in front, and the squad they have assembled with the signings of [Ezri] Konsa, [Bruno] Guimarães, [Christos] Tzolis and maybe one more — what a squad they have.”
Arsenal, following their thumping win over Frank Lampard’s Coventry, will now travel to Villa Park on Monday night to face Aston Villa.
