Federal High Court Lagos division moves to new complex

The long expected hearing of court proceedings in the new Federal High Court complex, Lagos Division at No 1B Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi has commenced with the movement of six (6) courts and some offices from its current premises at No. 24 Oyinkan Abayomi Drive Ikoyi to the Complex. The relocation of the courts and offices are in batches.
The first batch of the courts and offices relocating to No.1B, Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos are Vacation Courts 7 and 12, Courts 2, 3, 4 and 5 while the offices are Office of the Chief Registrar, Offices of the Deputy Chief Registrars, Electronic Litigation Registrar of Process (ELRP);
The Vacation Judges which have started sitting there in courts 7 and 12 are presided over by Honourable Justices Akintayo Aluko and Nkemakonam Ogazi respectively while Honourable Justices Ayokunle Faji, Ambrose Lewis Allagoa, Chukwujekwu Aneke and Yellim S. Bogoro are to commence sitting in Courts 2 , 3, 4 and 5 respectively when courts resume sitting on September 11 after the vacation.
A notice of relocation dated August 4, 2026 and signed by Yahaya Yakubu Shafa, FCIArb. Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, informs the Nigerian
Bar Association (NBA), Litigants, other Stakeholders, Lagos State Government and the general public about the movement which commenced on July 31.
The notice signed by the Chief Registrar reads:
“FEDERAL HIGH COURT OF NIGERIA LAGOS JUDICIAL DIVISION
NOTICE OF RELOCATION
I have been directed to notify the Nigerian Bar Association, Litigants, other Stakeholders, Lagos State Government and the general public that, upon completion of the Federal High Court Complex at No. 1B, Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, the Federal High Court is relocating, from its current premises at No. 24 Oyinkan Abayomi Drive Ikoyi, Lagos State. The movement shall be in batches commencing 31 July, 2026 thus:
FIRST BATCH:
Vacation Courts 7 and 12;
Courts 2, 3, 4 and 5;
Offices of the Chief Registrar, Deputy Chief Registrars, Electronic Litigation Registrar of Process (ELRP);
“Other Courts and offices will follow subsequently, please.”
A check by TheNiche who monitored the movement exercise at the current premises saw movement of court/case files, tables, iron cabinets and other equipment being loaded in the Federal High Court Truck to the Bourdillon Complex.
Similarly items in the affected offices were also transferred to the new Complex.
Meanwhile, the movement exercise is being supervised by the Admin Judge, Justice Faji and the Deputy Chief Registrar (litigation) Mr Longs G. Longwa.
The complex is expected to have a Press Office/Centre for the journalists covering judiciary as provided at FHC headquarters in Abuja.
