Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship poll, Dr Moses Paul Ogigi, popularly known as Dr Mo, has revealed that he visited the family of his agent, Musa Abubakar, who died during the just-concluded election.
The ADC flag bearer made this known on Monday in a statement he released after the results of the election were announced.
Following the conclusion and collation of results of the poll on Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Christopher Maikalangu, as the winner of the AMAC council election.
According to the Collation Officer for AMAC, Prof. Andrew Abue, Maikalangu was returned elected, having scored the highest number of votes: 40,295 out of a total of 62,861 valid votes cast.

“That Maikalangu of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he said.
However, while reviewing the outcome of the election, Dr Mo noted that ADC agent Musa Abubakar, who manned the Gwagwa polling unit, lost his life while trying to protect the votes.
“There were also instances where people changed the results from polling units, and this sad situation sadly led to the death of Musa Abubakar at the Gwagwa polling unit as he was trying to defend his vote,” he said.
Dr Mo added: “I am asking the proper officials to look into this issue carefully and make sure fairness is achieved.
“These actions harm the fairness of the voting process and make people lose trust in our democracy.”
