Fayose receives knocks over claim blackout fuels Nigeria’s explosive population

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, recently appointed Chairman of Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency, has blamed electricity shortages, especially after 7pm for Nigeria’s rising population.
In a viral video that surfaced on social media shortly after his inauguration as chairman of the agency, Fayose claims Nigerians go to bed early because of poor electricity supply, turning to their wives with the resultant impact on population growth.
According to him, with electricity, Nigerians would have nightlife options instead.
He pledges to tackle the electricity challenge through mini-grids and solar systems to enable recreation and economic gains.
On X, Fayose has received knocks over the claim.
