Fayose had earlier raised the alarm on social media, claiming that the Governor Makinde-led administration would commence the process of removing the Olubadan this week.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has reiterated that there is a plot by the Governor Seyi Makinde-led Oyo State Government to remove the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

He doubled down on his earlier claim on Tuesday in a new post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Fayose had first raised the alarm on Sunday on the same platform, alleging that the move to remove the highly revered monarch would begin this week.

He wrote: “I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. The plot is to commence this week, with a government query to be issued against the Olubadan.”

However, in separate reactions in Ibadan, the state capital, both Makinde and Ladoja—speaking through their aides—described the reported plot to dethrone the king as an unfounded and baseless rumour.

A media aide to Oba Ladoja, Adeola Oloko, refuted the claim in an interview, stating: “It would be most unfortunate if it were not a rumour. Although I read it just as you did online, I do not see any cause for friction between the governor and the Olubadan of Ibadanland.”

Representing the governor, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, stated: “The Oyo State Government has never contemplated, discussed, or planned such an action.”

Despite these rebuttals, Fayose urged those doubting his claims to “keep their fingers crossed” as events unfold.

“Those who are still in doubt about Governor Seyi Makinde’s plot to remove the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, should just keep their fingers crossed and follow unfolding events,” he said.

Buttressing his allegation, Fayose claimed that after denying the plot, the state government is now accusing the Olubadan of “plotting to impeach Governor Makinde”.

The former governor added that the statement released by the government accusing the Olubadan of being ‘partisan’ further substantiates his claim that Makinde was plotting to level formal allegations against the king.
