Families of slain Police Officers receive N43m cheques

The families of 51 police officers who lost their lives while on active duties in Jigawa State were presented cheques for N43 million by the Nigeria Police.
The gesture by the Police was made on Monday by the Commissioner of Police in the State, Emmanuel Effoin Ekot who presented the cheques to the deceased families on behalf of the Inspector General of Police at the Officers Mess, State Headquarters, Dutse Jigawa capital.
The Commissioner said at the event that the cheque presentation is part of the Group Life Assurance Benefits; Group Personal Accident and IGP Fsy Welfare Insurance Scheme being given to the families of slain Police Officers.
However, the Commissioner commended the efforts of the Inspector General of Police for improving the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force. He implored the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for their betterment.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hajia Hauwa commended the IGP and thanked him for the gesture and gave assurance that they will use the benefits for the betterment of their various families.
