Nigerian rapper, activist, and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has expressed frustration about the increasing tribal and religious divide in the country, saying it is “depressing.”
He made this known recently while reacting to a now-trending post shared on X by content creator, Nasboi.
The skit maker in the message urged Nigerians to put their tribal and religious differences aside and hold their leaders accountable.
“We’ve really kept quiet in this country. Reminiscing stories like ‘snake swallowing money.’ These politicians really take us for granted. busy stealing money they cannot finish on earth. It’s time to put our tribes and religions aside. Put this Country first,” Nasboi wrote.
His post followed a threat by United States President Donald Trump to punish Nigeria for failing to rescue Christians from alleged genocidal attacks by Islamic terrorists.
However, while reacting to Nasboi’s clarion call, Falz said Nigerians need to start thinking for themselves and stop letting politicians divide them along tribal and religious lines.
“I cannot begin to explain how depressing it has been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other. At some point we need to start thinking for ourselves,” he said.
