Falconets beat Senegal 2-1 in U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier; set to face Malawi

Falconets edged the contest 3-1 on aggregate, following a 1-0 victory in the first leg last weekend in Abeokuta.

The Falconets of Nigeria on Saturday defeated Senegal 2-1 in the second leg of their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup third qualifying round tie.

​Moses Aduku’s side edged the contest 3-1 on aggregate, following a 1-0 victory in the first leg last weekend in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

​Kindness Ifeanyi, who scored the only goal in the first meeting, opened the scoring for the Falconets in the 18th minute with a header.

​Nigeria doubled their advantage in the 68th minute after Precious Oscar scored from a corner kick.

Senegal, however, reduced the deficit in the dying minutes of an intriguing encounter.

​Following the win, the Falconets will now face Malawi in the final qualifying round of the competition.

​The winner on aggregate will qualify for Poland 2026, which is scheduled for September.
