Former Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas has described new Arsenal recruit, Leandro Trossard as a good acquisition, after his role in the third goal that earned Arsenal a narrow victory over Manchester United on Sunday Night.

The Belgium international joined Arsenal in a £27million transfer from Brighton on Friday after falling out with Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi.

He arrived after the Gunners missed out on their top target Mykhaylo Mudryk, who was snapped up by London rivals, Chelsea for £87m.

Trossard made his Arsenal debut in the 3-2 win over Manchester United, and Cesc Fabregas believes his debut was an important moment in the Gunners’ season.

The ex-Brighton striker came off the substitutes’ bench in the 82nd minute for Gabriel Martinelli and played an important role in Eddie Nketiah’s match-winning goal in the 90th minute.

Despite just completing four passes and two dribbles during his time on the pitch, his performance got some glowing praise from former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the match he said: “I think Trossard is a really good player, better than at the moment what people think he is,” he said on Sky Sports.

“He showed it at Brighton and he showed it today for a couple of minutes. He’s different to what they’ve got. He plays between the lines, he can score goals, play in different positions up front.”

Trossard is the first signing of the January transfer window for Arsenal, who moved fast to beat rivals Tottenham to the deal, but he won’t be the last.

This is because the Gunners are also set to complete the signing of Polish defender, Jakub Kiwior, who was inside the Emirates during Sunday’s win from Spezia in the coming days.
