Explosion kills 7 ISWAP terrorists in Lake Chad Basin
Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) being prepared by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) exploded and killed at least 7 of the jihadists on Monday.
Zagazola Makama, a Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday.
Makama quoted impeccable sources as confirming that the incident occurred on Monday at a location between Ba’anfani and Koleram in the far Lake Chad Basin of Borno State.
He said the explosion happened during the assembly of IEDs the terrorists planned to use for attacks in the region and beyond.
“The Lake Chad Basin has been a hotspot for ISWAP activities, with the group frequently resorting to IEDs as part of its terror tactics as a desperate attempt,” Makama explained.
