Former Paris Saint-Germain winger Jerome Rothen has hit out at Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, insisting he has not made progress since taking over as coach of the Spanish giants.
He spoke following Los Blancos’ recent 2-1 La Liga derby defeat to their arch-rivals, Atletico Madrid, at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Los Rojiblancos took a two-goal lead in the highly intriguing encounter after Alejandro Grimaldo and Jonathan David scored in the 53rd and 59th minutes respectively.
Despite Madrid’s gallant fightback and Antonio Rüdiger’s 89th-minute goal, the home side held on to claim a famous victory in the match.
Reacting to the loss, Rothen insisted that the Portuguese tactician has not changed anything at Real Madrid since taking charge a few months ago.

While questioning Mourinho’s mission at the club, he noted that Atlético players, unlike Real stars, were fired up for the league match.
“Mourinho didn’t change a thing at Real. If he can’t even get into the heads of his players for a derby,” Rothen said (via Rothen s’enflamme).
“The Atlético players, on the other hand, were possessed! There was nothing from Real’s side! Did Mourinho just come for the paycheque?”
Mourinho replaced Spanish manager Álvaro Arbeloa as Real Madrid manager in June this year, and his men currently sit in fourth position on the La Liga table with 15 points after seven matches.
