Family asks for privacy after ex-Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun loses husband

​Kemi Adeosun served as the Minister of Finance under the late President Muhammadu Buhari between 2015 and 2018.

​Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, the husband of former Nigerian Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun, has passed away.

​His death was announced on Thursday in a statement issued on behalf of the family by Rev. C. A. Adeosun.

​According to the statement, the husband of the former minister passed away on Wednesday, 5 August 2026 at the age of 62 in Lagos.

​It further noted that the deceased is survived by his wife, children, and siblings, including Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.

​The family added that the Christian burial arrangements for the deceased will be communicated in due course.

​The statement read, “Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the assurance of God’s Word: “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them” (Revelation 14:13).

​”The family requests privacy during this difficult period as we grieve our irreplaceable loss. Details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.”

​It added, “We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences, and support.”
