Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández has sent a heartfelt message to the Chelsea fanbase after completing a move from Stamford Bridge to Manchester City, saying, “I haven’t been in a good place.”
He bade the Blues faithful an emotional farewell on Tuesday in a now-trending post he shared on his official Instagram account.
Fernández, after a protracted summer transfer saga, completed a £125 million transfer to Manchester City on Tuesday night. The deadline-day deal becomes a joint-British transfer record and the highest fee ever received by Chelsea for a player sale.
Taking to his verified handle after signing the contract, the Argentine international appealed to Chelsea fans, saying that although his decision was a tough one, it was one he needed to make.
The World Cup winner added that he has “grown incredibly fond” of the West London outfit, adding that the club will “always have a place in my thoughts and, above all, in my heart”.
He went on to thank his former teammates for the countless moments they shared which brought him “immense joy”, and wished them all the very best in their future endeavours.

Fernández stated: “Dear Chelsea, I want you to know that these have not been easy days for me.
“Writing this is not easy either. The truth is, I haven’t been in a good place. Three years ago, Cobham and Stamford Bridge became home for me and my family. I grew attached to the people, to the shirt, and to the badge of this incredible club.
“Believe me when I say that, from the moment I arrived, I became obsessed with winning and with bringing this club every trophy that its history deserves. We suffered, we cried, I got angry many times, but we also celebrated titles and unforgettable victories.
“Together, through the good times and the difficult ones. I live football the same way I live my life: with passion and with all my heart. That is why I want you to know that I understand you. I truly understand you, from the bottom of my heart.
“But life is about making decisions, and right now I find myself having to make one of those difficult decisions. I’ve said it before, but I want to say it again: I have grown incredibly fond of this club. Chelsea will always have a place in my thoughts and, above all, in my heart.
“I also understand the dynamics of football. I recognise your fervour, as I share the same sentiment. If I were in your shoes, I would likely have similar thoughts. I extend my gratitude to each and every one of you: the staff, the coaching staff, the medical personnel, the physiotherapists, and all those who contribute at Cobham and across this esteemed institution.
“To all my teammates throughout these years, I sincerely thank you for the countless moments we have shared. My time here has brought me immense joy, and I wish you all the very best in your future endeavours.
