Enugu Rangers want to end NPFL in style with least goals conceded and 70 points

Enugu Rangers International will be officially crowned as Champions of the 2023/24 NPFL season but the ‘Flying Antelopes’ want to end the season in style and with a win away in Jos against already relegated Gombe United.

The head coach of the team, Fidelis Ileckwukwu, said the game in Jos is significant although it will not change their ascension to the throne as league champions.

“The game in Jos is significant to us because we want to win every game. We want to see Rangers hit seventy points, we are on 67 points right now. No match is a small match and we shall approach the match against Gombe United with all the respect it deserves but with the mindset of winning,” said Ilechukwu who thanked the Enugu State governor for supporting the team.

“It is not easy to be a champion and I thank Enugu State governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his dedication to our aspirations as well as the G.M/CEO of the club, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, who has done very well in motivating the team at all times just as we can’t forget the strong support from our fans all over the world.”

If Rangers win on Sunday, they will not only top the league with 70 points, at least five more than either Remo Stars or Enyimba, they will also end with the most wins (21).

They will also end the season with the least number of goals conceded if they keep a clean sheet and probably with the most goals scored. They have scored 54 goals in 37 games so far, one more than Plateau United who will visit Enyimba in Aba for their final game of the season.
