English fans rate Smith-Rowe higher than Sterling

Smith-Rowe has better stats compared with his more illustrious Manchester City compatriot, Raheem Sterling this season

English fans have asked England manager, Gareth Southgate, to consider Arsenal midfielder, Emile Smith Rowe, ahead of more established Raheem Sterling for the world cup.

This is because the young gunner’s statistics are much better compared with that of the more experienced Manchester City striker, and these fans have taken to social media to compare the two English players.  

Smith Rowe has scored 4 Premier League goals this season for instance, while Sterling has just a solitary goal to his name.

His goal per match ratio is also better, as he currently has 0.3, Sterling on the other hand has 0.1 goals per match ratio.

Again, his minute per goal stands at 269 minutes, 110 mins below Sterling, who scores after every 376 minutes.

They have a similar number of shots,  Smith-Rowe has 14, Sterling 13, but the Arsenal midfielder fared much better in terms of shot off and on target. 

Smith-Rowe has 9 shots on target and 3 off target, while Sterling has hit the target only 4 times this season, five of his shots were wayward. 

In terms of short accuracy, the 21-year-old has 75 percent currency, his Man City counterparts could only muster 44.4 percent shot accuracy. 

He also trounced him in shooting success rate as he boasts of 21.4 percent, he almost tripled that of City’s winger, who has  7.7 percent.   

Smith Rowe also fared better than some of those who get the green light from Southgate, he has more Premier League involvements this season, than Foden and Grealish have managed combined

He is the 4th Arsenal player to score in 3 consecutive Premier League  appearances aged 21 or younger, after Nicolas Anelka, Jose Antonio Reyes, and Cesc Fabregas

The talented midfielder also has four goals and two assists in his last seven games, he is now Arsenal’s joint-top scorer along with Arsenal Captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
