The Three Lions were later denied an opportunity to extend their lead after the referee overturned a penalty kick he had initially awarded, following advice from VAR. However, Thomas Tuchel’s men held on to win.

Following the hard-fought victory, England will now face Argentina or Switzerland in the last-four tie on Wednesday, 15 July.
