EndBadGovernance agitators will between August 1 to 10, 2024, take to the streets to protest current hardship in Nigeria

The organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protest on Tuesday rejected a proposition by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun that the upcoming August protest should be a confined demonstration.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the IGP on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with lawyers and rights activists, Femi Falana (SAN) and Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), and other key members of the Take It Back Movement in light of the planned nationwide protests.
Egbetokun during the parley suggested confined protests in identified locations and advised the EndBadGovernance organizers against street rallies.
According to the IGP: “It is not advisable to go on street processions because as you are planning peaceful protests, some are planning violence.”

Reacting to the request, Adegboruwa, who represented one of the groups organizing the nationwide protest, rejected the proposal.
Meanwhile, Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement after the meeting, said the parley was part of the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all citizens while upholding the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
He went on to say during the meeting, the IGP emphasised the importance of maintaining public order and safety during the planned protests.
Adejobi further acknowledged the group’s right to express their concerns through peaceful protests and reiterated the police’s duty to facilitate such rights within the bounds of the law.
