By Jeffrey Agbo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken popular TikTok creator Murja Ibrahim Kunya into custody in Kano over claims of misusing the Nigerian currency, the naira.

An insider from the anti-corruption agency disclosed Kunya’s detention to Kano-based Freedom Radio over the weekend, stating that an inquiry is currently in progress.

“The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, she will be charged in court for prosecution,” the source revealed.

Murja Kunya initially ventured into social media as a pastime but has since transformed it into a full-fledged profession. Her TikTok handle, Yagayagamen, has amassed considerable attention, though her content has frequently stirred controversy, leading to multiple convictions in Kano State.

Kunya’s apprehension aligns with a broader crackdown, as the EFCC has also detained other TikTok personalities, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, on related accusations.
