Dolphins FC striker, Emem Eduok, has set a new scoring record in the ongoing season after scoring all six goals in his team’s victory over Nembe City in Port Harcourt last Wednesday.
Eduok scored all six goals in the game to break the Nigerian League record of four goals a game and set his own.
In the 14th minute, while backing the post, Eduok turned around and volleyed a loose ball home to open scores.
By the 22nd minute, it was 2-0 as Eduok dribbled his way past the defence and blasted home.
In the 31st minute Victor Alegbe was brought down in the box and Eduok stepped up to score the penalty and get his hat trick, the first time he would take a penalty this season.
Five minutes into the second half, Eduok was freed by Adamu and his first shot was blocked by the goalkeeper but he rushed in to get the rebound and scored to equal a goal scoring record held by Victor Ezeji in 2007 for Dolphins against Elkanemi, Adamu Mohammed for Gombe United in 2014 against Nembe City and Christian Pyagbara for Sharks in 2014 against Sunshine Stars.
But Eduok was not done yet. He scored in the 71st minute and again in the 77th minute to give Dolphins their biggest win since 2002 when they beat Bayelsa United 8-0 in Port Harcourt.
Eduok said after the game that he could barely stand on his feet after the feat.
He said: “I am very happy. This is the first time I have done this and I feel so happy and give glory to God.
Dolphins manager, Stanley Eguma described the victory as sweet, but added that they did not expect a margin that large.
He said: “It was a sweet victory for us. We did not expect this but we give kudos to Emem Eduok for this performance.
