As the countdown to the Edo election is barely seven days away, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, State Security Service (SSS) and the Nigerian Navy made appearances on the street of Benin to show its readiness in combating violence against the September 19 governorship election.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Air force), Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigerian Immigration Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency all took part in the exercise.
Police Public Relations Officer in Edo, CSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said that the exercise was to alert the residents of the state on the readiness of the agencies for the election, and to ward off criminal elements in the state.
