DStv PBL: There is still work to be done – Ahmedu

-

Despite a resounding victory over Oluyole Warriors Basketball Club of Ibadan, Oyo State, in the ongoing DStv Premier Basketball League (PBL), proprietor of Dodan Warriors Basketball Club of Lagos, Col. Sam Ahmedu (rtd.), has charged his players and officials to work harder.

In the battle of ‘The Warriors’ penultimate Saturday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Dodan Warriors walloped Oluyole Warriors by 72 to 41 points.

Ahmedu said: “It was a good game for us today, as the players and officials did a good job that translated into our victory.

“But the fact must be told that there is still room for improvement. There are still work to be done and that means we cannot say for now that we’ve arrived.

“We will continue to fight and improve in subsequent matches to ensure that we have a success outing. The league is not about winning a match or two, but about winning as many matches as possible.

“The only way we can achieve that is to remain focused, put the victory over Oluyole Warriors behind us and forge ahead to ensure that we play well in other matches and record victories.

“Not only victory, but winning with resounding points and scaring away our opponents, so that we will be a threat for them.”

He, however, praised the players and officials, charging them not to rest on their oars.

“The season has just started. We cannot be talking of who will win the league with only a match, but we can only continue to work harder and encourage the team to keep up the tempo.

“Oluyole Warriors are no push-overs in the match. In fact, there are no push-overs in the league and so we will continue to fight and fight till the end,” he added.

In another match played at the same venue penultimate Saturday, Nigeria Customs Basketball Club defeated Union Bank Basketball Club by 61 to 40 points.
