President of the Athletics Federation of Nigerian (AFN), Tonobok Okowa has assured that Nigeria will avoid WADA sanctions.
The country which is the ‘A’ category of World Athletics (WA) Integrity Unit radar has been under intense scrutiny recently after alleged noncompliance with the World Anti-Doping Code.
Sadly, this is the second time in 4 years that Nigeria is been threatened by WADA but Chief Okowa believes the Sports Ministry is working on it and they are capable of handling the situation.
“The Sports Ministry is handling the issue and eventually they will tell us how to go about it.
“All necessary documents have been packaged and sent to WADA about NADO and Nigeria’s action plans.
” Nigeria won’t be sanctioned. That matter has been on since the previous tenure but the sports minister has assured that it will be resolved, so, we are waiting to here from them”, Okowa said as per Punch report.
