Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has disclosed the most impactful advice given to him by his uncle, the Nigerian football icon Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha.
The attacking midfielder shared these words of wisdom during a recent appearance as a guest on the latest episode of The High Performance Podcast.
According to the former Arsenal player, Okocha urged him to play with freedom and without fear against every opponent throughout his professional career.

Iwobi, 29, also confessed that the former Nigerian international has been a major influence on his career, both on and off the pitch.
Speaking on the show, Iwobi said: “He [Okocha] said to me, express yourself. Don’t be afraid to express yourself.
”I got it from my uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha. He said it to me once, and I literally just watched how he lived his life.
”I feel lucky he is my uncle. I used to see him both off the pitch as well as on the pitch.”
