Players and officials of Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt are to miss the country’s presidential election, unless the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) reschedules the team’s continental match against Leonas Vegetarianos FC of Equatorial Guinea.
Already, the team has submitted a list of 22 players to CAF, the organisers of the competition. Sixteen of them played for the team last season. Five are newly-signed.
Captain Sunday Rotimi; Togolese born defender, Joseph Douhadji; and attacker, Ifeanyi Egwin; are some of the players on the list.
Rotimi is the only goalkeeper returning from the squad of last season, while defenders who are returning to the team are Douhadji, Chidiebere Okolie, Ayobami Asekunowo, Tobins Zikalla, Jonathan Zikiye and Victor Ezuruike.
The returning midfielders are Tijani Adamu, Tasiu Lawal, Hope Fiberesima, Victor Alegbe, Emeka Atuloma and Isiaka Olawale, while attackers are Egwin, Chigozie Ihunda and Omo Johnson.
