Diezani Alison-Madueke denies transferring billions of dollars to Gov Lawal

By Jeffrey Agbo

Former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has dismissed circulating social media reports about her making statements linking her to the transfer of billions of dollars to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal., describing them as “false, malicious, and a calculated attempt to smear her name.”

In a statement issued by her family, legal team, and the Bayelsa Youth Association, the ex-minister stressed that she never made the comments being linked to her and has no financial connections with the governor.

“This is not the first time that false narratives have been planted in the media to distort facts and damage her reputation,” the statement said, noting that Mrs. Alison-Madueke remains determined to clear her name through lawful means.

The group further appealed to journalists and the public to fact-check reports before sharing them, while urging authorities to probe those behind what it called a “campaign of falsehood.”

Reaffirming her position, Mrs. Alison-Madueke emphasised that she prefers to resolve matters through due process rather than in the “court of public opinion.”
