Diamond Group, who noted the government has made infrastructural gains since it was elected, also urged Nigerians to vote for good leaders in 2023

A socio-economic and political association, Diamond Group Nigeria (DGN) has congratulated Nigerians on the birth of a brand new year, hoping 2023 brings renewal to the country.
This was disclosed in an end of the year message made available to TheNiche and signed by the leader of the group, Archdiamond Toyyib Musa-Omoloja on Sunday.
The Group in the message, noted the Buhari-led government has made some infrastructural and security gains since it was elected by Nigerians in 2015.
It, however, listed areas the government needs to focus on in the new year, urging people of the country to go out and vote for good leaders when they take to the polls later in the year.
The statement reads: “The past year, for Nigerians, was an admixture of sweet and not-so-sweet memories.
“The government, in spite of the inclement socio-economic situation across the world, was able to record significant infrastructural development across several facets of the economy, and this of course remains commendable as the country must necessarily bridge the huge deficit in her infrastructure in order to launch her fully into the orbit of advanced economy
“Towards the end of last year, the nation began to experience respite from the strangulating level of insecurity across the country, and this also was laudable as such atmosphere of peace remains pivotal to accelerated growth and development.

“Diamond Group Nigeria, in her last year’s message to the nation, had identified some areas of focus for the country, among which were: insecurity, economy, revamp of the electoral system etcetera etcetera. The Group commends the Federal Government under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari for decisively revolutionising the electoral system through the adoption of BVAS technology. This, we hope, will ensure that elections are more credible; a necessary precursor to responsible and responsive leadership.
“As we usher in year 2023, the Group urges government at all levels, to concentrate on the following areas:
• Building a buoyant economy laced with inclusive prosperity for Nigerians, and stemming the tide of brain drain ravaging the productive segment of our population
• Taming the runaway inflation that is making life miserable for Nigerians
• Consolidating on the gains recorded in the security front.
• Improving agriculture and food production.
• Strengthening our education with emphasis on science and technology to fast-track our development trajectory as a nation
“Importantly, as it is an election year, the Group urges Nigerians to elect credible and competent leaders, imbued with vision, energy and capabilities, at all levels, that will lead the journey of realising the greatness inherent in our country.”
Diamond Group ended the new year message by wishing Nigeria the best of luck in the 2023 elections, while also praying for a great and prosperous 2023 and beyond.
