Though it is being speculated that the lawmaker died of coronavirus (COVID-19), no official confirmation yet on the cause of the death.

The deceased lawmaker, who represented Isoko North Constituency until his death, hailed from Akiowhe community in the council area.

Owhefere was said to have been on oxygen for a week before his death, fueling speculations that he died of COVID-19.

This suspicion is reportedly causing anxiety among members of the Delta House of Assembly as some colleagues were reported to have visited him at a hospital (name withheld) in Asaba where he was first admitted.

Recall that Delta Speaker, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, recently recovered from COVID-19. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had also contracted and recovered from the virus in the peak of the pandemic last year.
