Is D’banj really broke?

-

If there is any truth in the debt allegations that have trailed Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popular known as D’banj or Kokomaster, then he may well be hauled to court and may even be jailed. This refers particularly to the dud cheques he reportedly issued to his creditor. Talk is that they have resorted to taking him to court, and everyone knows what the law says about issuing of dud cheques.

DbanjWell, he has finally responded, on social media nonetheless, and it is tantamount to saying nothing because he simply tweeted, “Silence”. And those who have said all along that this is a publicity gimmick point to the fact that D’banj completed the tweet with a video link to the newly released music video of Oritsefemi’s Double Wahala Part 2 in which he features.

The said video was shot a few weeks ago in the United States of America (U.S.) by Moe Musa.

For those still in the dark, it has been widely reported that D’Banj, who runs DB Records, issued two dud cheques this year and failed to pay a N60 million debt to the Vice Chairman of Broron Group, Henry Ojogho. Reported to be indebted to other people as well, D’banj is said to have obtained the loan in January last year and ought to have paid back long since.

Speculation is rife in the industry that D’banj’s move to the U.S. may have gradually resulted in the current state of affairs. For instance, he has not really released an album since he made the move, and the market for his music may well just be here. Whatever the case may be, it will be a matter of time till D’banj and everyone else gets to know what is truly up.
