Ace Afrobeats singer, songwriter, and music producer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has alleged that powerful politicians are plotting to deregister the Accord Party ahead of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
The ‘Electricity’ crooner made this known on Thursday in a now-trending post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page.
This comes about 48 hours after the record label owner called out the immediate past governor of Osun State and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, over an alleged desperate plan purportedly designed to win the election.
Davido wrote: “The most desperate politician in the world is @GboyegaOyetola, very embarrassing. Oyetola, your plan no go work.”
In December 2025, the incumbent Osun State governor and Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the Accord Party following the former’s national leadership crisis and ongoing legal disputes.
As preparations intensify for the Osun State governorship election, scheduled for 15 August 2026, Davido claimed that certain political actors are trying to ensure the electoral umpire removes the Accord Party from the ballot.
He also challenged the main opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and other political parties to an open, free, and fair contest.
Speaking via his verified handle, the 33-year-old artist said: “Deregister Accord party for what? Cowards, let’s go to the field.”
