The daughter of the General Manager, Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC), Aisha Bala Wunti, has embarked on free medical treatment for patients suffering from various ailments in Bauchi State.
During the opening ceremony of the medical outreach held at Reemee Clinic Bauchi, Aisha explained that specialist doctors were hired from India to attend to the patients.
According to her, the medical outreach, which would last for two days, targeted about 1, 000 sick people, who would be treated and be given drugs free of charge.
Aisha revealed that she received a lot of cash gifts from her relatives, friends and well wishers, saying her compassion for the less-privileged informed the decision to utilize the money in sponsoring the free medical outreach.
“The gesture was aimed at expressing my gratitude to God for the abundant blessings he bestowed on me and it is part of activities celebrating my wedding,” she said.
In his remarks, Aisha’s father and General Manager of NNPC, Alhaji Bala Wunti, applauded his daughter for showing sympathy to the downtrodden members of the society, urging her to keep it up even after marriage.
He also promised to construct a community hospital and primary school at his Wunti community in Bauchi where poor residents would access services free of charge.
Team leader of the doctors, Dr Simon Hercules, a neuro surgeon, said that competent physicians and specialists were brought by the team for the exercise.
Aisha also donated 10 wheelchairs to the physically challenged that attended the programme.
