Dasuki: Attorney General appears in court Nov. 23

-

A Federal High Court in Abuja Monday adjourned the aborted flyout case of retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, immediate-past national security adviser (NSA) till November 23, this year.

Dasuki, NSA to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, was granted permission by the court to fly abroad for three weeks to enable him to continue his medical treatment.

But the Department of State Service (DSS), in blatant disobedience of the court order, claimed it set up a committee to probe Dasuki and for which reason it arbitrarily and lawlessly overruled the Federal High Court with self-help and blocked Dasuki from flying out, compelling the Judge to tell DSS not to be lawless by disobeying a competent court’s order.

He ordered the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to appear in court to explain the DSS’s adamant, illegal refusal to allow the ex-NSA to fly out for the treatment for an ailment which, every passing day worsens, contrary to the competent court’s ruling.

In fact, DSS practically put the NSA under house arrest, claiming that he has not yet met all the conditions for bail, an explanation any informed person hardly believes.

The Judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola adjourned the case following an oral application from the Solicitor-General of the Federation, Mr Taiwo Abidogun.

Ademola held that the adjournment would enable the AGF to appear and explain the siege on Dasuki’s Abuja residence.

Abidogun, who appeared for the first time in Dasuki’s case, told the court that the AGF and Minister of Justice has just been sworn-in and he needs time to study the case himself to enable him to brief the minister on the matter.

The solicitor-general informed the court that the minister would assume office on Wednesday, November 18 and would be briefed about Dasuki’s case.

He, therefore, urged the court to allow them to appear on Monday, a week from hence.

Dasuki’s Counsel, Mr Joseph Daudu (SAN), did not oppose the application.
