CVR: Imo posts least figures in Southeast as INEC’s fresh registrants hit 11m

Over 11 million new applicants have completed their voter registration since the CVR began in June last year.

Imo State is lagging behind other states in the Southeast in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) with only 166,855 new registrants in an exercise that Ebonyi State is posting an impressive figure of 364,268 new registrants.

Fresh statistics released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the CVR exercise, which is billed to come to an end this weekend have also shown Lagos overtaking Kano State as per the number of completed registrations.

As at last week, Kano had 458,559 fresh registrants, with Lagos coming second with 451,156.

However, in the infographics released on Tuesday, INEC said as at 7am on Monday, July 25, Lagos was in the lead for the number of completed registrations with 508,936; followed by Kano with 500,207, and Delta with 481,929.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has 170,828 new registrants.

Ekiti with 124,844 new registrants is the least, followed by Yobe with 134,002.

Surprisingly Bayelsa State has 416,519 new registrants.

Other states in the Southeast also have good numbers – Enugu 210,335; Anambra 276,767 and Abia 243,464.

The report added that over 11 million new applicants have completed their voter registration since the CVR began in June last year.
