Customs issues new guidelines to linsenced Agents for improved operations

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has spelled out some new guidelines to be followed by the Association of Nigeria Licensed Custom Agents (ANLCA) for better and improved operations.

A in six bullet point communique issued by the NCS after it’s meeting with ANLCA’s NECOM members at the Customs management Headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja appears very instructive.

Some of the guidelines stated that ANLCA BoT elections should be held within two Months without delay, as there will be no tolerance for any Customs licenses albeit, used for doing bad jobs will not be renewed.

The NCS also made it clear that all renewed licenses will be viewed on a platform for public scrutiny henceforth as active and performing licenses will remain on top of the viewing portal at all times, while inactive licenses will be relegated to the background.

The communique also stated that Importers would enjoy Advance Ruling on Value, Classifications etc, for a period of 6 months. Assuring that “Profiled importers with integrity will also enjoy Authorized Economic Operator’s ( AEO) status.

The Customs Service also promised a Robust training for Customs linsenced Agents and more importantly, assures on bringing back in 2023, the Annual Comptroller General Conference which was abandoned in recent years.
