Cross River State Deputy Governor, Peter Odey has said he did not create the X page (formerly Twitter) which posted a tweet backing suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu after her alleged N585 million saga.

This was made known on Thursday by Odey’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Abua, who raised an alarm following a report in a national newspaper, which claimed the deputy governor rallied public support for the embattled minister.

The CPS while clarifying that the post was a plot to scam unsuspecting members of the public, added that his principal does not own a Twitter account.

He said: “This thing is run by scammers. His Excellency is only on Facebook for now!

“These impostors aren’t stopping. We have written disclaimers but they keep opening more and more new social media accounts, claiming to be one high profile personality or the other. The end is just to defraud the unsuspecting public.”

Abua further said his boss could not have made any public statement about the ongoing investigation into the said N585 million when the state government has not taken a position.

The now trending post on X platform credited to Odey read: “Dear Dr Betta Edu, you shall come out strong! We’re with you. I trust Mr President to do a thorough investigation on this matter. Betta Edu is Better.”
