Cosmos Atabor’s Leadership: A new dawn for Igalamela LGA

According to one of Nigeria’s philosophers, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, only an educated person can play a full and meaningful role in the affairs of society, particularly in a country where trust is a burden.
Education is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. It changes the horizon of man from his traditional sociocultural environment to a level beyond that of their ordinary social life. Hon. Cosmos Atabor, or “Cosmo Meter” as he’s fondly called, has changed the curve of local government administration in the state at a supersonic jet speed. It would be a travesty of intelligence to jettison the innovations he has brought to solving bureaucratic bottlenecks just a few years into his leadership.
The desire of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo, for technocrats and intellectual variations led to the choice and victory of Hon. Cosmos at the poll. The current Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government, Rt. Hon. Cosmos Atabor, is seen as a man and politician with no erratic behavior. He is a leader with dependable allies in championing the growth and prosperity of the local government.
Knowledge is power, information is liberating, and education is the premise of progress in every society. The spate of killings, communal clashes, and other social vices has reduced drastically under his leadership. He’s achieving this by closing the communication gap among stakeholders and opinion leaders in the community by giving a fair hearing to all concerns through an open-door policy. He has respect for human dignity by not seeing other mankind as subservient to him. His pattern of smiles, jokes, and interactions elicits hope and assurance that there is still hope on the horizon. He has, therefore, become a passport for the future generation in leadership and governance.
Development in Igalamela local government is accelerated by what could be called “Cosmomerci” under his administration. It is important to make it abundantly clear that a qualitative leader is a catalyst for infrastructural and inclusive economic growth. Inclusive growth will lead to poverty alleviation and a reduction in income inequality at the third tier of government and the state in particular.
Hon. Cosmos’s economic drivers are inclusivity through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). He has consolidated and is still consolidating on already achieved gains in education, industry, and the local economy, which are positively impacting the living standards of the people. His leadership pays premium attention to security, health, education, and investments in primary institutions. Some of the development agendas of Hon. Cosmos Atabor range from addressing local environmental issues and community needs to community mobilization, organic farming, environmental and livelihood improvement, and boosting the psychology of youths towards positive endeavors.
