The Presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) in the 2015 elections, Mr. Martin Onovo, has raised alarm over the high level corruption in the government of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria.
He said, “No corruption is near what is happening today with APC government.”
This despite the claims by the APC that the anti-corruption campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari was tackling corruption.
He said, “Corruption is now wearing bullet proof. You cannot arrest it, and you cannot shoot it”.
The activist cum politician said that the APC administration was desperately using propaganda to the extent that “the more you look the less you see.”
He told The Niche that the APC government was “desperately, recklessly and unpatriotically accelerating to a debt crisis which is the total ruination of the economy, leading to total collapse.”
Onovo further said, “I think the facts are clear on the issues at stake. Insecurity, health, education, power, economy etc. are worst now, according to the APC themselves, power is worst according to APC themselves.
“The economy was growing when APC came to power. In 13 months, APC government drove the economy to a recession. When we raised the alarm that they have driven the economy to a recession they said that they would drive it out of recession in the subsequent 11 months. They drove it into a state stagflation, worse than a recession.
“Now they are desperately, recklessly, unpatriotically accelerating to a debt crisis which is the total ruination of the economy, leading to total collapse. So the verdict of the APC is clear because when you look at the security, look at the economy and every other sectors you weep for Nigeria.
“Worst still, they are still using propaganda even when they know that they do not have the solution.
“APC said their anti-corruption war cannot be faulted but that is a laughable statement. In fact somebody said and I share in that view that corruption under the APC is now wearing bullet proof.
“Corruption is now wearing armored bullet proof, it is now outward, you cannot arrest it, and you cannot shoot it.
“APC claimed to have spent 2.6 billion dollars nearly 1 trillion on the welfare of the IDP’S, total population of IDP’s is not more than 400, 000. They are claiming that they are spending two hundred thousand naira monthly on those IDP’s that are dying of malnutrition.
“I don’t feed with up to two hundred thousand naira a month, I sustain myself with less than two hundred thousand naira a month and I am well-fed and healthy. There is no corruption that is near APC corruption.
“The former CBN governor who is now the Emir of Kano talked about APC round-tripping dollar and making billionaires and he talked about $7 billion in fake subsidies. Multiply $7 billion in naira with N360. There is nothing more corrupt than the APC.
“2016 budget is 6 trillion, let them show us what they did with money that is convincing? 2017 budget is 7 trillion show me a new refinery or a power station. APC is the most corrupt organisation since God created Adam and Eve. For the APC the more you look the less you see. Nothing can be more corrupt than the APC”.
