Manchester City fans have taken to social media to slam Bernardo Silva, after their team failed to secure a win over RB Leipzig in their Round of 16 clash at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday night.

The Citizens’ superiority translated into a goal in the 27th minute as Riyad Mahrez pounced on Xaver Schlager’s sloppy pass to fire past goalkeeper Janis Blaswich to make it 1-0 to the visitors.

However, despite their dominance, RB Leipzig restored parity in the 70th minute through Josko Gvardiol, who scored with a firm header off a cross from Marcel Halstenberg.

Bernardo Silva was singled out for his poor display during the game and fans who were not pleased with his performance took to Twitter to lambast him.

The Spanish international was accused of struggling to use the ball efficiently and provide defense-splitting passes for the strikers.

He was also accused of struggling to keep up with the pace of the game, slowing down counter-attacking opportunities by passing backward and getting dribbled past several times.

As far as the fans were concerned, his overall performance was rather subpar for Manchester City, and they were quick to let him know via their tweets.

A Twitter user identified as @dunmadesammy said:

“All these Gundogan, Bernardo Silva… washed players. All washed. Bernardo would be forming “dropping deep” only to collect the ball and play rubbish”

Another netizen, @TiagoIsntWashed wrote: “Bernardo Silva has genuinely completely and utterly useless, this is embarrassing. Every single time he touched the ball it was a negative action that hurt the team. It’s actually preposterous how he played 90 minutes”

@slimRaekwon added: “@TiagoIsntWashed Runnardo Silva has mastered the art of Looking busy but doing nothing.

“Create chances??

“No hermano how about a pointless dribble followed by a back pass”

Another internet user, @zamil__raza said: “Bernardo Silva, Walker, what a horrible performance.”

While @u_Thato wrote: “Bernardo Silva js the worst vision I’ve ever seen. He’s just a chihuahua 🤣”
