The exhibition of 15 paintings and drawings titled, ‘Yet We Smile’, mostly of mixed media on canvas, by Henry Chigbo, opened since February 7 and will show till February 21 at Alliance Francaise de Lagos, Sabo, Yaba.
What is more, admittance to the event is free and open to all members of the public.
The artist in his statement said his first solo exhibition intended to preach the beauty in smiling.
“It is a known fact that we face challenges as individuals or a nation. Too much stress from our imperfect leaders, society or even immediate family. However, we should not allow anything to weaken our joy and health,” he explained.
According to him, it takes 43 muscles to frown and just 17 to smile, hence it is easier to smile than to frown. His conclusion is: let us smile more!
