Thousands of Catholics led by Archbishop of Catholic Metropolitan See, Alfred Adewale Martins, are currently on a peaceful march to protest the killings going on across the Middle Belt region in Nigeria.
Chanting prayer and other Christian hymns, the faithfuls started the more than four kilometre walk from Saint Leo on Toyin Street Ikeja to Alausa, the seat of Lagos State government office to express their grievances to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode over the killings allegedly perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.

The same protest is holding simultaneously in Abuja, led by John Cardinal Onaiyekan to show solidarity with the Benue people who are today burying 17 people, including two priests killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in a church.
Our correspondent who was part of the procession, reported that the faithfuls carried placards bearing inscriptions such as ‘FG STOP THE KILLINGS.’ ‘BRING THE KILLERS TO BOOK.’ ‘THIS MADNESS MUST END.’ and many other inscriptions.
The protesters were accompanied by policemen, Lagos traffic officials and other security agencies to ensure that the march was not hijacked by thugs.
