Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher,  has highlighted the exceptional atmosphere Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has brought back to the Emirates Stadium since Arsene Wenger left.

Carragher made the remark while analysing Arsenal’s game against his former club on Sky Sports, pointing out the remarkable “energy” that has been present at the Emirates this year.

The former England defender lavished praise on the Spaniard for achieving a feat that other Arsenal managers before him failed to achieve at the stadium.

Arteta has endured some difficult times since replacing Unai Emery at the helm back in December 2019. He was even believed to be at risk of losing his job a few months ago.

This is because some disgruntled fans felt the former Arsenal captain should leave after the club’s late collapse, which saw them concede the Champions League spot to their North London rivals, Tottenham.

However, Arsenal kept faith with Arteta’s process – and they have been rewarded handsomely. The Gunners have flown out of the blocks this season to set the pace and are currently at the summit of the Premier League.

After Sunday’s statement 3-2 victory over Liverpool at the Emirate, Carragher stressed he had not seen the ground as bubbling as it became under the club’s previous managers.

He said, “I feared that going into the game, that they would have too much intensity and pace for Liverpool and I think that was proven.

“In terms of Arsenal, I think you know I’ve always been a fan of what Mikel Arteta is doing there or trying to do. I love the energy of the team, the bravery of going with those young players last year, and I just love the energy in the stadium right now.

“That’s something I haven’t seen since I’ve been doing this job and looking at Arsenal. There’s an energy there, there’s a togetherness. The song that they sing, ‘North London Forever’ by Louis Dunford, listening to it, you just feel something.”
