English football analyst and former England international, Jamie Carragher, has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) deserved to win Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) encounter against Liverpool.
The game ended 1-0 with Harvey Elliott coming off the bench to grab an 87th minute winner for the Reds at the Parc des Princes, France.
The winning goal came from Liverpool’s only shot on target, as they were completely dominated by the Ligue 1 champions.
PSG recorded 27 shots on goal, including 10 on target and saw Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s goal in the first half ruled out for a narrow offside, while goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s heroics kept the French side at bay.
The victory means Liverpool will go into the second leg of the European last 16
encounter at the Anfield with a slim advantage.
When asked if Liverpool got away with it, Carragher told CBS Sports: “Got away with it? That’s one of the biggest robberies you’ll ever seen in football.
“It really is. I can’t believe what I’ve just seen, I can’t.
“PSG were absolutely outstanding, they were brilliant. They battered Liverpool.”
