Cameroon on Wednesday night booked their place in the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after defeating hosts Morocco 3-1 on penalties at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium.

The North Africans, backed by a passionate home crowd, imposed greater control of possession during the game, but the Indomitable Lionesses remained compact and disciplined throughout.

The dramatic semi-final eventually ended goalless after 120 minutes as both teams were unable to find a breakthrough before the final whistle.

During the penalty shootout, however, Cameroon converted three of their four kicks through Marie Ngah, Rose Bella, and Myriam Nyadjou, while Morocco managed only one successful effort, scored by Hanane Aït El Haj.

Kenza Chapelle, Meryem Atiq, and Sakina Ouzraoui all failed to convert for the Atlas Lionesses as Cameroon completed another major knockout victory after eliminating defending champions Nigeria 1-0 in the quarter-finals.

The victory sends them into their fourth WAFCON final where they will meet debutants Malawi, but ultimately ended Morocco’s hopes of reaching the continental showpiece for a third successive edition.
