CAF names Tunisian referee for Bayana-Falcons’ Olympic clash, as Sports Minister rallies support

Tunisian centre referee, Dorsaf Ganouati will take charge of the women’s Olympic football clash between Banyana Banyana of South Africa and the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

The 2024 Olympic Football Tournament final round, 2nd leg, qualifying tie is slated for the Lotfus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria, tomorrow.

According to the Confederation of African Football, Ganouati’s compatriots, Houda Afine and Emna Ajbouni, will respectively serve as first assistant and fourth officials.

Cameroon’s Agar Mezing will be the referee assessor, while Cindy Dludlu from Eswatini will be match commissioner.

The Super Falcons who have arrived South Africa for the crucial match, won the first leg 1-0 courtesy of Rasheedat Ajibade’s first half penalty.
Meanwhile, Sports Minister John Enoh has called on team to break the 16-year jinx that has kept Nigeria out of the Olympic Games Female Football event.

With a 1-0 lead from the first leg held in Abuja, the Super Falcons carry the hopes and dreams of a nation as they head into the decisive match in South Africa.

John Enoh, speaking ahead of the match, emphasized the importance of self-belief and resilience in achieving victory. He stated, “The Super Falcons have shown remarkable strength and prowess throughout their journey, and now is the time for them to rise and conquer. We believe in their ability to overcome any challenge and make Nigeria proud.”
