CAF-License A course ends in Abuja

The first phase of the first ever CAF –License A coaching course in the country, organized by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), will end this weekend in Abuja.

National Technical Director, Shaibu Amodu, said on Wednesday that the second phase of the course would hold during the break period of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

He said: “It has been a very useful, educative and exciting two weeks working with the leading coaches in the country. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) gave us the option of dividing the program into two or three phases, and we chose to divide into two phases. CAF understands that most of the participants would be Coaches of the National Teams and elite division clubs, who would be busy at this period.

“We will round off the first phase after the coaches must have gone through 120 hours of the course, and they would then return for another 120 hours during the break period of the Professional Football League season.”

It will be recalled that NFF 2nd Vice President/LMC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Chris Green and Chairman of the NFF Referees Committee, Yusuf Fresh, as well as NFF Deputy General Secretary, Emmanuel Ikpeme opened the program on Wednesday last week.

A total of 43 coaches are taking part in the course, including president of Nigeria (Football) Coaches Association, Bitrus Bewarang, Super Eagles’ interim Head Coach, Salisu Yusuf, Nigeria U-23 coach, Samson Siasia, former U-17 World Cup winners, Manu Garba and Emmanuel Amuneke, Kadiri Ikhana, Gbenga Ogunbote, Fatai Amoo, Bala Nikyu, Alphonsus Dike, Isa Ladan Bosso, Godwin Uwua, Ann Chiejine, Toyin Ayinla, Stanley Eguma, Erasmus Onuh and Emeka Amadi.

Amodu, Chiefs Adegboye Onigbinde and Kashimawo Laloko, Dr. Tijjani Yusuf, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu, Dr. Robinson Okosun and Mr. Ademola Olajire are among resource persons who have delivered papers at the course.
