CAF appoints Chadian referee, Mahamat for Nigeria, South Africa World Cup qualifier

Mahamat will be assisted by Sudanese official, Abdallah, Abelmiro Dos Reis Monte Negro from Sao Tome & Principe  and compatriot, Alfred.

Chadian referee, Alhadji Allaou Mahamat, will take charge of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana next month.

The 38-years-old will work alongside Sudanese official,  Mohammed Ibrahim Abdallah (assistant referee 1), Abelmiro Dos Reis Monte Negro from Sao Tome & Principe (assistant referee 2) and compatriot Pousri Armi Alfred (fourth official).

Egyptian Abdelsalam Mahmoud will serve as the referee assessor, while Bakary Jammeh from The Gambia will be the commissioner.

Mahamat became an international referee 12 years ago and has officiated in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup competitions.

He was also a referee at the 34th Africa Cup of Nations held in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year.

The matchday seven encounter between the Super Eagles and South Africa, which  is billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, wil kick-off at 5pm Nigerian time.
