Inter Miami midfielder, Sergio Busquets, has said he will retire from professional football at the end of the 2025/2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, following a career which spanned almost two decades.
He made the disclosure on Friday via a video he shared on his official Instagram page.
Speaking in the now viral clip, the 37-year-old midfielder reflected on a career that saw him play for Spain and La Liga giants, Barcelona.

While announcing the decision, Busquets wrote, “I feel like it’s time to say goodbye to my career as a professional soccer player.
“It has been almost 20 years of enjoying this incredible story that I always dreamed of.”
Busquets won multiple LaLiga titles, Copa del Rey cups and UEFA Champions League (UCL) trophies while at Barcelona.
He also lifted one European Championship trophy and a World Cup with Spain.
He joined Inter Miami in 2023, to play alongside former Barcelona teammates, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba.
