Burna Boy wins ‘Best International Act’ at BET Awards

Burna Boy with the latest victory has now won the BET Awards’ “Best International Act” category for the fourth time

Ace Afrobeats singer, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has won the “Best International Act” award at the 2023 BET Awards held on Sunday night in the United States of America.

The 23rd edition of BET Awards held to celebrate achievements in entertainment and honors music, sports, television, and movies took place on June 25, 2023, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Burna Boy en route to winning the award defeated French singer, Aya Nakamura, British superstars, Ella Mai, Stormzy, and Central Cee, and his compatriot, Ayra Starr. 

With the latest victory, the ‘Last Last’ crooner has now won the BET Awards’ “Best International Act” category for the fourth time.

Prior to this, Burna Boy won the award for three consecutive years in 2019, 2020 and 2021. 

Since the creation of the BET Awards’ “Best International Act” in 2018, the category has been won exclusively by Nigerians, with Davido being the maiden winner.

The 2022 edition of the award was picked up by Grammy Awards winner and rising Nigerian music star, Tems

Meanwhile, Nigerian singer, Asake lost the “Best New International” award to Cameroonian star, Libianca last night.
