Nigerian singer, rapper, and record label owner, Olamide Adedeji (Olamide), has responded to the backlash that greeted his declaration of Wizkid as “the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela.”
The ‘Omo To Shan’ crooner set tongues wagging on social media recently after making the assertion during a press conference in Toronto, Canada.
While addressing journalists, Olamide said, “I am blessed to have collaborated with Wizkid on multiple occasions. You know Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artist ever after Fela.”
His claim, after making the rounds, drew mixed reactions from netizens. While Wizkid fans applauded him, supporters of Burna Boy and Davido countered his claim and lambasted him for making such a divisive comment.

While reacting to the controversy on X on Friday, Olamide said everyone is entitled to their opinion, stressing that there is enough room for all artists to shine.
He added that Burna Boy and Davido are not narrow-minded enough to get offended by an opinion or perspective.
In a statement shared via his verified social media page, he wrote: “Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose—there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone.”
“However, one thing to remember is that Burna, David, and Wiz aren’t narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone else’s opinion or perspective. That’s part of why they’ve reached where they are today.”
