Buratai is safe, not attacked by terrorists – Spokesman
By Jeffrey Agbo
Former Chief of Army Staff and ex-ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (retd), has refuted reports claiming he was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
The denial was issued on Monday in Abuja through a statement by his spokesman, retired Brigadier General Sani Usman, who also once served as the army’s spokesperson.
Usman described the report as “mischievous and utterly false,” stressing that the claims circulating on some online platforms were entirely fabricated.
He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, he celebrated the Eid festivities peacefully in Abuja in the company of family, friends, and well-wishers, has remained within the Federal Capital Territory since then.

“This baseless rumour is a product of the reckless imagination of the purveyors of fake news, individuals whose sole aim is to malign him, spread fear, confusion and misinformation.”
Usman also expressed gratitude to the many Nigerians, friends and supporters who reached out with concern, prayers and goodwill following the misleading report.
“Your overwhelming show of love and support is deeply cherished and speaks volumes about the enduring respect and affection we are privileged to receive from across the country and beyond,” he said.
Usman concluded by reminding those spreading falsehoods that truth will always prevail.
